		<description>In some ways I'm not surprised you didn't connect with the early &lt;em&gt;NJO&lt;/em&gt; books. At one level they were (of course) designed to appear familiar to people who knew the original characters.

But on another, you really had to know the &lt;em&gt;characters&lt;/em&gt; of the characters to get the most out of them. And that meant following (many, if not all of) the intervening novels.

I don't know whether I'd class myself as a "Warsie" (although I do have a friend...), but I did and do enjoy the &lt;em&gt;Star Wars&lt;/em&gt; novels.
