The winner? Drum roll please... <em>Serenity</em>. While I occasionally had problems with his world-building, the strong (and mostly heroic, if flawed) ensemble, balance of episodic vs. story arc plots, and dialogue made <em>Firefly</em> and <em>Serenity</em> one of the better space-based science fiction shows we've seen lately, IMHO... I agree that Joss Whedon's short-lived space western was a rare island in a sea of mediocrity.
