While not as trim as Mr. Universe or James Bond in his youth, he was still a convincing ass-kicker in <em>League of Extraordinary Gentlemen</em>, despite that comic book movies' many other flaws. Connery's middle-aged machismo served him well in movies such as <em>Time Bandits</em>, <em>Highlander</em>, <em>The Name of the Rose</em>, <em>The Untouchables</em>, and <em>Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade</em>, and has even been the one good thing in bad ones like <em>LXG</em> or <em>Highlander 2</em>. As big a Harrison Ford fan as I am, his string of romantic comedies since playing Jack Ryan and Dr. Richard Kimble hasn't been much better than some of those latter flicks. Let's just hope that Lucas, Spielberg, et al. have their act together for a belated sequel... P.S.: By now, you've probably also seen that <em><a href="http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=20834" TITLE="Thundercats Headed for the Big Screen">Thundercats</a></em> and <em><a href="http://www.aintitcool.com/?q=node/32897" TITLE="WB wants more magical fantasy, so they bewitched Terry Brooks and got his SHANNARA books!">Sword of Shanarra</a></em> have been optioned for movies.
