[Editor's note: I'm not in the habit of using Showbits to repost press releases verbatim. But this one comes from a fan club, not a corporation — and the club supports one of my favorite films of all time, featuring one of my favorite actors of all time. Thus, an exception follows.]

Somewhere in Time BIG NEWS! Our Annual "June 27, 1912" Newsletter…..

JANE SEYMOUR is expected to attend the Somewhere in Time Weekend at Grand Hotel in October (Oct. 26–28, 2007). This will be the 17th Annual SIT Weekend, and Jane's second time attendance. She has not joined us since 2002.

Jane will arrive on Saturday afternoon. She has made the SIT Weekend a stop on her book tour, for her new decorating book, "Making Yourself at Home" a very personal look at Jane's own home in Malibu, CA. The book features 150 color photos of every room in Jane's home…and includes tips on making your own home a reflection of your taste, with seasonal change suggestions, tablescapes, themes, etc.

SIT Weekend INFO: Please see the News Section of the Somewhere in Time Website, for details and further information on this extraordinary annual event. There is also a FAQ section. There are still rooms available, but they are selling out fast, so contact Grand Hotel for your reservation, 800-33-GRAND. If you plan to attend, we suggest two things that will help you prepare to get the most out of this extraordinary experience:

1. Join INSITE and receive our elegant quarterly magazine. You'll LOVE it! The color commemorative this year is beautiful, suitable for framing. Order back issues of any year — 4th Quarter issue details the event so you can know what a busy agenda we have and how people dress, etc. (See Fan Club section of SIT Website to join online, and for covers of our magazine)

2. Order one (better yet, all) of the SIT Event Videos. Each features exclusive material, these entertaining videos will give you a full taste of our event — professional documentaries-with-heart, to make you feel like you were there. The PRIVATE INTERVIEWS with SIT Celebrity Guests are worth the price alone! These are very popular with SIT Fans…. especially Event Video #3, Christopher Reeve Returns to Mackinac, and #6, Jane Seymour Returns to Mackinac. (purchase videos in the online shop on SIT Website)

HAPPY JUNE 27TH, SIT Fans….."It's June 27th, 1912," the magically memorable day Richard found Elise in our beloved film.

We hope you will celebrate your timeless love by watching the movie again, and visiting our SIT Website for our new items…

Is it definitely confirmed that Jane will attend the 17th annual Grand Hotel visit on Oct 28th? Dancing with the Stars will not keep her from attending. Hearing rumors….. Please confirm as I have booked the weekend just to see her.

    Thank you!

    Karen,

Ken forwarded me your inquiry. I have had a long phone conversation with Jane's "Girl Friday" yesterday. We talked about all the considerations involved.

From what we discussed, I would say that Jane wants to come, and they are proceeding that she will, but still, anything can happen. While Jane wants to attend and the Dancing show is willing to follow her there to film her attending, we cannot say with 100% certainty that she will come. As the show goes on, the pressure and competition increases. The time is short to learn the dance and perfect it each week. Jane's next dance is the Viennese Waltz, which suits her well, but the next one is the Samba, and those quick, percussive dances are the ones Jane has trouble doing. She's lost 15 pounds already!

Our SIT Weekend schedule is being printed, listing Jane as coming (and signing only her own merchandise, which will be there), from 5-6 pm Saturday. However, we know that anything can change.

The travel time is what is so hard. She loses so much practice (and rest) time making such a trip. They block on Saturday in the studio and have dress rehearsal on Sunday. She wants to stay on the show, she is committed to that. If she stays on, she is hoping to do some sort of homage to Somewhere in Time, which would be lovely. They can't pick their music, it's given to them, but perhaps in costume.

I am just sending out a mass email through the SIT Website and customers for SIT Collectibles, that the voting is crucial…I found out from Jane's Girl Friday that you can vote by phone AND by email AND by texting, potentially vote 50–60 times–the young have that all figured out. They will be no doubt voting for the Cheetah Girl, who is also very GOOD. Jane needs all her fanbase to vote, (we older ones, like me, don't understand the voting intricacies, so I'm informing)

I know you want to have Jane there, as we all do, and the SIT Weekend is an extraordinary event regardless who comes. I hate to hear that people have booked ONLY because they heard Jane is coming. If she ends up having circumstances requiring her to cancel then they are unhappy. I want happy people at the event!

We have good reason to expect her, but again, there is no guarantee.

You will have to take that leap of faith to come and hope she will make it. Sorry I cannot be more precise at this time.

    Yours in time,

I was told last night that Jane has told Grand Hotel she is not coming. It is the pressure of the Dancing With the Stars show and the time away which would compromise her success in competing. Competition increases every week. They block in the studio on Saturday and dress rehearsal is Sunday, so I imagine that she didn't feel it prudent to miss those, and the travel time to Mackinac is arduous.
