That New Voyages wasn't high quality, but it certainly wasn't bad at all. I think either the actors or director weren't sure whether or not this should be played as a parody or homage of ST:TOS and it wound up being somewhere in the middle. But it was nicely written with decent cameos. They must pay pretty good to get the original cast involved as much as they have. I enjoyed that a lot.

George Takei reports that the script for World Enough and Time was originally written for the Star Trek: Phase II TV series relaunch in the Seventies. Fascinating! (Hat tip to TrekToday)

You can read it right from the author's mouth in the ninth paragraph of his guest column on TVGuide.com.

Just watched "World Enough and Time". Thank you. I found it fascinating how they replicated the original look and feel. Interesting to see another side of George Takei. The story made me cry at the end.

I totally agree with your blog about it being difficult to accept the new actors in these roles. In order to enjoy it, I had to work at accepting them on their own terms. I had the most trouble with Scotty, who seemed to be in and out of an accent and not consistent in character.
