A reminder that tonight is the theatrical screening of the 25th anniversary edition of WarGames! (It and the sequel release separately on DVD on July 29th.)

Admittedly, the game is simplistic and its wire-frame graphics aren't for everyone. The AI isn't great, and the appeal of the game certainly is nuking your friends off the face of the planet in multiplayer mode.

Gene, I was wearing my <a href = "http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts/popculture/5e8f/"TITLE="M.A.D.">WarGames t-shirt the other day, and someone complimented me on it. I asked, "You like that film?" Turns out they had no idea it was a movie reference; they just liked the commentary on the futility of war.

I have fond memories of this movie. Back in '83, I was a founding member of my high school's computer club, my family had bought the first IBM PC, and I went with my dad to check out this film. If only today's military, with its research into fully autonomous combat droids and liquid robots, would heed the warnings! "The only way to win..."
