I rewatched them both this weekend. I first remember seeing Carrey's dramatic acting chops in a made-for-TV movie, <em>Doing Time on Maple Drive</em>, where he plays an alcoholic struggling to find his sense of self, and sobriety in a dysfunctional family. It was released in 1992, when Carrey was still making funny faces on <em>In Living Color</em> and I remember being very impressed to learn that he had real talent as an actor.
